The Filipino Women’s league was founded in 1970 by Dr. Cora Manayan. She had a concern for Hawaii’s Filipino plantation workers found isolated in dilapidated living quarters in poor health and the youth.
Several chapters were organized on Oahu, however the only active chapter was Pearl City.
We continue to encourage better understanding and appreciation of our Filipino heritage and culture, provide community service and outreach, and award scholarships to high school graduates seeking higher education within the State.
Our theme “Magsamasama Tayo (Let’s Get Together)” broadens members opportunity to achieve personal and professional growth through leadership and community participation.
